Commander Access needed a modern mobile and web application to replace their outdated gate control system. Property managers, residents, and security personnel required a seamless, intuitive interface to manage access permissions, monitor entry logs, and remotely control automated gates in real time.
We partnered with Commander Access from concept to launch, covering user research, UX strategy, UI design, and full-stack development of both the mobile app and web dashboard.
Every successful product begins with deep understanding. We mapped the ecosystem, interviewed users, and identified the critical pain points before writing a single line of code.
Stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, and system audit
Interviewed contractors & installers on their parts-finding workflow
Lo-fi flows and layouts, tested with real users before polishing
Interactive Figma prototype for stakeholder sign-off before dev
Three distinct user types with very different needs, we built intuitive flows for each, ensuring no one felt lost regardless of their technical background.
We started with hand-sketched wireframes and paper prototypes to validate core flows before committing to pixels. Each iteration was tested with real users before moving to the next fidelity level.
A cohesive design language built for clarity and trust, dark mode native, with high-contrast elements and a bold color system that communicates access states at a glance.
Every screen designed for one-handed use, fast glanceability, and zero cognitive load.
We developed the iOS and Android apps using React Native, backed by a Node.js + PostgreSQL API with WebSocket support for real-time gate status updates. The web dashboard was built with React and TypeScript.
